Safe Practice
Keep clear of the cliffs - It is recommended to keep a distance of 8+ metres from the base of cliffs and to wear a hard hat if near to them to avoid injury from any falling rocks
Muddy Sand - Even though it may look dry and cracked, mud that is set on the beach can quickly become wet and sticky. Be careful to stay on secure ground.
Check Tide Times - Particularly at Saltwick Bay, you can find yourself engrossed in Fossil Hunting to find you are in a section of the beach that gets cut off when the tide comes in. Make sure you know when high tide and low tide is. You can use this website: www.tideschart.com
Bring Appropriate Tools - A hammer and a chisel will get you very far when Fossil Hunting, be sure to remember safety goggles when chiselling in case any fragments fly off when doing so
