The Cleveland Way National Trail

Part of the Cleveland Way walk goes directly through Whitby Holiday Park so we are a brilliant base for your walking adventures. From our park you can directly access Whitby in one direction or Robin Hood’s Bay in the other direction. Both are extremely scenic and very enjoyable. The distance to Whitby along the path from the park is just one mile, and the distance to Robin Hood’s Bay from the park is about six and a half miles.

The Cleveland Way spans over 109 miles from Helmsley to Filey, so there are plenty of areas you can choose to do at any time. If you are adventurous enough to do it all in one go then that’s awesome, but for most of us small sections at a time are very satisfying.

Starting from the attractive market town of Helmsley, the Cleveland Way heads across the inspirational, and breath taking heather moorland of the North York Moors National Park, before reaching the coast at Saltburn-by-the-Sea. From here it’s a visual feast along the North Yorkshire coastline to Filey, passing old fishing villages and lively coastal towns.

The National Trail runs through the famous smuggler’s village of Robin Hood’s Bay and the popular seaside resorts of Scarborough and Whitby – one of England’s best coastal towns and home to Whitby Abbey, the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

Whilst some parts of the Cleveland Way are strenuous, there are sections without barriers that are accessible to everyone.
